My boyfriend smokes and I absolutely hate it. I want to have a future with him, but I cannot imagine marrying him if he continues to smoke. I’m not sure of the best way to encourage him to quit. It seems like every time I say something, I end up passionately lecturing him, which then results in him wanting to smoke more. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

You could warn him of the dangers of smoking, maybe dropping hints by leaving magazines open on pages about the bad effects of smoking or the internet on it, or just be simply showing him pictures or stories of people who have suffered due to smoking. Calculating how much he spends on cigarettes will also be persuasive as over a year it amounts to quite a lot! He also has to know how uncomftorable it makes you so you could give an ultimatum- me or the cigarettes! But it doesnt have to be that harsh lol Image may be NSFW.
